Day 49

Still brainstorming for a critique of that Business Week article about the GoogleMobile. Here are my thoughts today. What do you think a car company could do to become more Googly?

How couold a car company be more Googly?

User created content

Openness - Reveal design from get go? Interior content design? Open source- Very Daunting. Customization is difficult b/c atoms are a drag.

Safety - Google doesn't have to protect a passenger for a decade into the future, nor comply with bazillions of federal and state requirements

inverse relationship between control and trust. - We need to trust an automaker to purchase, but can't have that much control of what is going on. Does opening up data open up the potential for lawsuits?

Transparency would lead to greater trust. But if transparency is controlled, it feels a lot like spin.

Pose a question online - allow a user created car to attempt to solve that problem. Complexity kills! Track solutions, use optimal solution

User interface is key. Google understands how a product will be used, what the product does. Doesn't make a one size fits all thing. - Scalability and size hamper. It takes hundreds of millions of $ to produce a single quality car.

Life is Beta? Beta cars kill people.
